Welcome to the Sisters Birgittinessen in Uden, Abbey Maria Refugie.
We would like to introduce you to our abbey and the life we lead. Among other things, you will find information about our life, our spirituality, the vocation story of one of the sisters, the order of the day and so on.
Our life is a life of love. Jesus said to St. Birgitta: I suffered for your sake so that you would follow Me. And this is what we sisters are animated by. And He also called Saint Birgitta to contemplate Him, not with the bodily eyes, but with those of the heart. (Cf. Extr. 82) Love is our motive in all our doings. In the suffering Lord who redeemed us on the cross we see only love and we would like to give love to Him and also through our contemplative, contemplative hidden life also to the world, created by Him.
